Starting to work again after a 4 month hiatus, it seems to be both a blessing and a curse.  What a CRAZY 4 months it has been.  It will keep me blogging for life.  Its sad that I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the fastest way to get a photo online, I could have shot it and uploaded by then!  I ended up just using my phone, Duh.  Next time that will save me 30 minutes.

Art Detour is downtown tonight, hope to see many of you there.  Aline Smithson will be at TILT Gallery 919 W Fillmore, with The Variety Show”.

On display March 5-26. Showcasing three different bodies of work incorporating traditional photography techniques along with applying washes and hand painting. Unique limited edition prints. Art Detour Hours: Fri 6-9pm for artist reception; Sat 10am-6pm; Sun noon-6pm.

Check it out!

Come behind the scenes and gain curatorial access with the Norton Family Assistant Curator of Photography Rebecca Senf, Ph.D., as she shares the work of 10 photographers she has been introduced to in the last year.  Special opportunities to meet new faces in the field, such as jurying portfolio reviews and meeting artists who visit the Museum and Center for Creative Photography, has allowed her to make unique discoveries.  Dr. Senf presents emerging photographers as well as new work produced by established artists, from color to black- and – white, and from film based to digital production.  Presented by Contemporary Forum and in Focus.

Its hard to believe that I have been back from China for two months, I am a little behind.  Better late than never.  I still have a ton of photos to upload, so stay tuned!  Duck tounge galore.

Check out the current edition of FRACTION MAGAZINE to read about the Lishui Photo Festival.  You can read the statement by curator Laura Moya about my show _borderline.

Also, there is a great overview of the entire festival written by Taj Forer of Daylight Magazine.  Well worth the read.

Found a new addiction in needlepoint.  Just finished my first canvas, and have already purchased 3 more.  I was working outside in Santa Fe, and a wasp made his way on to the table and just died right there.  Sad.

Starting to prepare for China and the Lishui Photo Festival, its only a month away.  Now with three new canvases I will be able to fill up my 22 hour flight.  Tomorrow is the opening of Picturing Maricopa, you can visit the exhibition at the Burton Barr Library (1221 N Central Avenue  Phoenix)  through December 6th. You can view all of the images from the show at my website under  “catalog_”Next”

We visited the oldest church in the oldest city, the St. Francis Basilica in Santa Fe New Mexico.  It was absolutely stunning.   Ella didn’t understand that we have to pay for each candle that we light.  By the time we left all were lit, as well as a large red pillar in honor of my grandparents.

Santa Fe inspired me, as it does so many other people.   I would assume that is why there is such a large art community there.  Photo-eye has the best photography books.  I purchased The Collectors Guide to Emerging Art Photography (humble arts foundation). Great book……new goal.

Stayed at the “Riot Hyatt” this weekend.  Love the view on Sunset.
